Song of the day: Soko – I’ll kill her

Remember MySpace? (In case you don’t remember it: don’t bother, it’s not ever coming back.) Once upon a time this was a platform used to launch musical careers – in a handful of cases with some success. The French actress and singer Soko (Stéphanie Sokolinski) is one of those cases as I’ll kill her, the hilariously funny story of her possible future being robbed by ‘that bitch blond girl’ – I especially feel sorry for Susan and Tom (who never had the opportunity so to speak to live up to their potential) – was first launched on her MySpace page.

Warning: you are likely to be victim of a huge scam!

Picture by SamsungTomorrow (https://www.flickr.com/photos/samsungtomorrow/)Those who know me in person, will be able to confirm: intellectual development is quite important to me. That is why in recent years I have been thrilled to see loads of new devices entering our society at a large scale with a name containing the prefix ‘smart’. BUT… there is a big problem! And probably you are just as much a victim to it as I have now discovered to be myself!!! Continue reading

I’d love to come over and hand a present to each and everyone of you in person, but there seem to be a few practical problems in doing so (distances to be covered and limitations on the availability of financial means being some of them). But I am able to offer you a special, hand-picked top 3 (in random order) selection of the 2014 blogposts I enjoyed most in creating – let’s hope you enjoy (re-?)reading them as much.

An amazing discovery

E-books are the next big thing. Definitely maybe. Some time.

Song of the day: Touch and Go – Would you…?

Although they have released a number of songs and the Wikipedia page on the band mentions “A new album should come out in 2014” (which is highly unlikely to be true as this blogpost is written in the closing days of 2014) this English band called Touch and Go definitely fits to my idea of a one hit wonder. But that obviously doesn’t mean it’s not a nice song to hear every now and then.

Don’t pay too much attention to the video clip, though. I guess it was made in an afternoon or so, simply using whatever was available in the house (which would explain the flatiron and the vacuum cleaner) and then messing around a bit with the color settings. The song was originally released in 1998.

Quote of the day #35

“Science knows it doesn’t know everything, otherwise, it’d stop. But just because science doesn’t know everything doesn’t mean you can fill in the gaps with whatever fairy tale most appeals to you.”

Important concept for teenagers: subtlety in scent

This is really a message specifically meant for teenagers, so if you happen to have any near you: make sure to spread the word to them (preferably via a share button – being experts at this, the members of the targeted demographic will gladly explain to you how this works; you will have to put up with some rolling of the eyes or a mocking glance, though).

The message is connected to any kind of scent applied to the human body,  Continue reading
